Kamilyah Jackson-Cooper, LCSW, PLLC

Kamilyah Jackson-Cooper, LCSW, PLLC is a LGBTQIA and Kink-friendly therapist and consultant. I am a licensed clinical social worker who previously practiced in Washington, DC before starting a private practice in New York State. I graduated from University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from New York University’s Silver School of Social Work. After earning my degree, I immediately began working with young people of color in community-based clinics. I have a great deal of experience working with individuals who are severe and persistently mentally ill, and who have experienced trauma. While my 10 years of experience with working these populations have helped me shaped my passion of: making therapy affordable and available to communities of color, addressing the stigma of people living with mental illness in marginalized communities and working with young people of color who have experienced trauma; that is not the sole focus of my work. I am happy to take the skills that I have learned while working with these populations to come up a treatment plan that best suits your needs. As a therapist, my goal is to work in collaboration with you to create a safe space to assist you in gaining clarity and ultimately heal, so you can be your best self and live the life you want to live. My approach is compassionate, genuine, and non-judgmental because therapy should be a transformative relationship where you explore obstacles to your growth. The modalities I often incorporate include: meditation, solution-focused therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, talk therapy, and sensorimotor psychotherapy.
